showcase app design

Overview:

The assignment was to create an app idea, and design the basic wireframes for the functions and appearance of the app. I created an app called SHOWCASE, which functions as almost a combination between Instagram and Ticketmaster, allowing users to follow artists and venues to get consistent updates on shows and tours of artists they follow, as well as shows in their city.

Context & Challenge:

The challenges I faced while designing these wireframes were the decisions of how many functions I wanted this app to have. This was a challenge for me because I had an idea of the kind of app I wanted to create, but I wasn’t sure how to incorporate so many buttons/functions into such a simple wireframe and still have the general idea make sense as a viewer.

Process & Insight:

I started with creating a basic outline of the main pages within the app, and how a user would access them. In this case, it is a scroll function and a swipe function that allows users to access the main pages of the app. Once I decided on this, it became a much easier process to organize the different buttons and the layout of the app.

Solution

I enjoy a bold yet simple style, using a display font and mainly relying on the imagery within the app to stand out, as opposed to making the general app design more detailed or complicated.

Result:

I have created 4 wireframes and 4 mockups for SHOWCASE. These display the login screen, main feed (viewing the artists and venues the the user is following), a map screen (displaying shows in the area), and and personal favourites page (displaying the shows and events that the user has saved).
